Week 7 (but who’s counting?)

Not a huge amount happened last week, mainly due to the weather – extremely hot and/or very wet.  We are hoping that the roof will be done by the end of this week, though, as the forecast is perfect for it this week.

We met with the site supervisor last Tuesday which was great, and we were able to get an idea of the timeline for the build.  He tentatively said August; this is what we had been thinking anyway – so probably September!   Apparently there is a delay on our windows being delivered so the bricks may also be a bit delayed.  Not much we can do about it but I am glad we know about it so we aren’t left wondering what was going on if there is no action after the roof is done.

We actually spent today on site.   As stated in the last post, we wanted to put in some extra noggins (the horizontal timber between the studs) where we knew we were planning to hang the television, floating cabinets, floating shelves, pictures, the big kitchen clock, etc.  This worked out to quite a few extra bits of timber, and some of the walls look quite odd at the moment but it will all be hidden by the plaster eventually, and there will be the extra support needed by the heavier items.

A bit thank you to our mate Danny for his building expertise and help with this!  Was a huge help! 🙂

Framed!

Warning: photo overload ahead.  The frame started late last week and it looks like it is now close to finished, other than the sliding door frames and probably a few bits here and there.

The guttering and fascia has also been done and I’m really happy with the colours.

We are having a meet with the Site Supervisor early next week so that should be good, want to just let him know that we want to add a few noggins here and there to help support the eventual TV brackets, mirrors and the big clock.  Might also be able to find out the estimated finish date – we haven’t been given one yet so that will be interesting – though whatever it is I think I’ll add a month or so to try and be more realistic.
