The Waiting Game

Just a quick update before the Christmas period… everything is now signed off and ready to go – permits have been approved etc and the house has now gone to ‘ordering’ – which I think basically means that we are put on a list for site start and they start sending out advance orders to the various companies for the slab, frames etc….
The builder re-opens the office on 11 January 2016.  We are still hoping for a January site start but as many trades won’t be back at work until late January this may be a bit too optimistic.  We will have to wait and see.  Somebody should give me a medal for my patience, I am not particularly known for it and have had to have it in spades for the last few years!
We also recently had to apply for an asset protection permit from the council – this is basically a one-off fee, and a $1,000.00 bond so that if any council property gets damaged during our build we are covered.  Kind of like insurance, but this isn’t optional – you can get fined if you don’t have the permit seven days prior to starting. Hoping we can get the bond back in full at the end of the build.

Soooo to end off 2015…. to everyone who is reading my posts, Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!  Hopefully a productive one at our end…. I will obviously keep you posted! xxoo
