Slabbed!

Called past tonight, wasn’t expecting much, only to see we have been slabbed!  Plus the frames have already been delivered.  Looks like it is going full steam ahead at the moment.

I am waiting on a call back from our SS though as we had an independent inspection done after the formwork was complete and there were a few rectifications the inspector wanted done before the concrete pour, most of which you can’t even see now.  I had asked for photos of the rectifications… guess I will find out tomorrow.

Anyway, here ’tis!  Couldn’t get great photos as the framing was in the way but you get the gist – the third photo is from the back corner looking towards the street.

Pre-slab works

Visited early this morning to not only find that a lot of work has been done, but that they were actually working on it, on a Sunday!  Was quite impressed as the rain last week had delayed things a bit and this will help get back on track.

Concrete is due to be done on Tuesday – a day with a forecast of 39 degrees, probably the hottest day we have had for a few weeks…. though I am sure they do this all the time….. have to remember that they know what they are doing and I have no idea….

It was great to see it all ‘blocked up’ – much easier to see where the rooms all are etc.

Plumbing is in, and slab prep

The underground pipes were all in by late last week – they all seem to be in the right spots….

A quick drive-by tonight showed the gravel has been laid for the slab preparation, so it looks like slab by the end of this week!

And we’re off

So the site cut happened last week and you can now get a better idea of how the house will be placed on the land.  The house is a lot closer to the street than I had been thinking so I am really glad now that we have no footpath, just a really wide verge. The driveway seems a bit steeper than we had thought but not much we can do about it now!!

By Tuesday the retaining wall posts were in, as was the electricity box and, of course, the very important portable dunny had been delivered.  On visiting tonight the retaining wall is finished, complete with aggy pipe and coria.  Hoping that the underground plumbing will go in next.  We were originally told that the slab would probably be done next week, not sure how realistic that is……
