Five weeks… and counting

Finally received an update last week. The council have signed off on Stage 2 and so now all of the paperwork is with Land Victoria for the Titles to be done. Wish I knew someone who worked there to bribe them to do it quickly! The estimate is three weeks, then settlement will be ten days afterwards. Even our solicitor got informed so it seems it is actually happening which is kind of a shock when it has been so long!
Would we have still bought the block if we had known how long we would have to wait? To be honest I am not sure, it does feel like we have been in a holding pattern for a long time now. However, it has given us the chance to save up some $$$ for all the stuff we will have to do afterwards, from landscaping, the back deck, blinds, new furniture, even the clothesline. Plus, we love the house we are going to build and to think we may be in it by next Winter is quite exciting.
Went and looked at some furniture again yesterday. It is so hard not to buy anything yet (or, should I say, anything more than I already have) especially when you see sales. But I will wait until the house is done (or nearly so) as I want to get a feel for the rooms before filling them.
Hopefully my next post won’t be far away and it will be all about the settlement!
